Happy Birthday, Daddy!

The kids helped to decorate for Daddy's Birthday. Jake picked out the Mighty Machine table cloth because he knew Daddy would like it! :)
We didn't have a lot of time to celebrate together because when Brett got home; he recieved a call that there was a fire with some power lines and tree branches toward the bottom of the campus. Brett was gone about an hour getting that taken care of. We had his favorite meal of fish, rice with chick peas, potato-beat salad, with mint brownies and icecream for dessert.
Krisinta didn't want to waste any of her icecream so she's licking up what had melted on the table! :)

No More Monkeys Climbing in the Trees

Well, it was bound to happen at some point, I guess. At a little after 1 o'clock this afternoon, Alanna fell out of the tangerine tree. She was just standing at the crook of the tree - not very high up while Junior and Sylove were getting the tangerines. Alanna says that she felt her foot slipping so she leaned forward to grab the tree, but leaned too far forward and tumbled on down, landing on her right wrist. I could hear her screams immediately from the house and took off running to see what had happened.
Alanna's lips were white and she was broke out in a sweat, so I was fairly certain she had broken her arm. I grabbed Mary Lou's keys from her house so that I could borrow her truck - though she wasn't actually home for me to ask to borrow her truck --( we really do need to fund for our own vehicle! ) Alanna was in a lot of pain, and I prayed for the Lord to comfort her as I drove her to the clinic. Within 10 minutes of her fall, we were sitting in the clinic yard waiting for the Dr. and she was asleep in my arms! The Lord is so good! Though she had a small crack in each little bone above her wrist; the Lord touched her in a special way and helped her through the afternoon.

We made it back home around 3:30 pm (we couldn't have had that fast of service in the States! :) The other kids were waiting for her loaded with gifts! She now has a new pet Katydid, some cars and gehkos from Jake, and a Barbie camera from Brianna that she had gotten when she was in the hospital. The kids are taking good care of her and are being very helpful.

Alanna was very excited about all the extra attention; but has since realized that she doesn't get to take her cast on and off whenever she wants -- and so it is not nearly as exciting! She is already finding it to be hot and itchy! Poor thing!
Please pray for her quick healing and adjustment to having to wear a cast! Thanks!

Changing Teeth

In Haiti, we say that Jake is "changing teeth." Everyone else wanted to show off their teeth too! :)

Race pictures of the girls

I just got some pictures from Mary Lou of the girls. They were with her during the race, handing out water. The other two were with me and I didn't think to take pictures of them!

MFI Retreat

During his message this morning, the speaker said that we should guard our tongues; that we should not be tearing down, but building up. After the service, Brianna VERY excitedly informed me that they have been studying about guarding our tongues in Bible class for a couple of weeks now. And she is so amazed at how God just puts everything together for us! :)

Our kids really enjoyed getting to hear everything in English. They are excited about getting the chance to go back again in the morning to attend another service in English and to have another chance to see some of their friends there again.
